Driver Wins Award in Roadeo
Stagecoach Driver Wins Award in Statewide Competition
On Saturday, May 16th, Stagecoach Bus Driver, Brian Sullivan participated in the Vermont State Bus “Roadeo”, a fun spirited safety competition for bus drivers sponsored by the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans).
Sullivan competed against drivers from all nine of Vermont’s rural public transportation providers. He captured two awards; 2nd place in the Serpentine Cone Obstacle Course and 3rd place in the Diminishing Clearance Obstacle Course.
“Brian demonstrated our drivers’ high level of skill and professionalism” said Aaron Little, Stagecoach’s Regional Director. “Every day they manage to keep a schedule, collect fares, give directions, and remember stop requests, all while maneuvering an extra-large vehicle through unpredictable traffic, adverse weather conditions and some really tight spaces. Brian made it look easy today, but it’s actually pretty complex.”
Sullivan has been changing lives by providing transportation services for community members to access medical appointments, employment, grocery shopping and other vital quality of life needs for more than 6 years. He and his wife Maggie live in Randolph, VT.
This year’s event was held at the Diamond Run Mall and hosted by Rutland’s public transit agency, Marble Valley Regional Transit District. The day provided unique learning and networking opportunities for bus operators to engage with other transit agency professionals.
Stagecoach enhances the social, environmental, and economic health of the region by providing safe and accessible community transportation services for everyone. For more information, please contact us.
