Stagecoach Transportation Services News and Recent Developments
Stagecoach Transportation Services plans to expand its commuter transportation services along I-89, by beginning the operation of a new segment from Montpelier to Randolph Center, Randolph Village, and South Royalton. Open to the public, the new service may begin as early as mid-December and will provide direct transportation from Montpelier along I-89, with stops at the park & ride lots at Exits 8,7, and 5, through to Vermont Technical College, Gifford Medical Center, and the Vermont Law School.

Randolph's door-to-door shuttle, the Maxi-Taxi, has experienced a sharp rise in ridership during the past few months, resulting in a noticeable increase over the same period last year.

Thirty-two and a half years ago, Dian Roberts of Rochester boarded a funny-looking white and yellow Mercedes van bearing the image of a horse-drawn Stagecoach. Though it was one small step for Dian, the maiden voyage of Stagecoach Transportation represented one giant step in offering public bus service to residents of that rural, somewhat isolated valley.

One definition that Webster's Dictionary gives to the word interim is "temporary, of short duration". Appointed to the Stagecoach Board of Directors in 1994 on an interim basis, Jim Kennedy, outgoing President, may cause the term to be re-defined to "on going, of long duration". Seeing things through, from start to finish, is the quality Jim brings to everything he embraces. There is nothing Jim does that is "temporary, of short duration," rather he leaves his positive mark across the long term. In the case of the Stagecoach, this has meant leading the organization from his role as President of the Board of Directors for the past fourteen and a half years.
